Finlay Boylan

(he/him)

Hi! I’m Finlay, a British poet and spoken word artist from Lichfield, England, interested in place, memory and nature. I often write poetry of reflection, returning to past events to make sense of the triumphs and traumas that shape our personal identities.

I completed an MA in Poetry at the University of East Anglia in 2025 where I met many amazing people and worked to improve my craft. I am also passionate about spoken word performance and regularly perform in Birmingham at events such as Tell It to the Music, Pretty Privilege Poetry, and Grizzly Pear.

I am interested in capturing authentic voices in my work, including voices of the working class, children and animals. This focus originates from my upbringing on a farm in the West Midlands as well as growing up in the former mining town, Chasetown, where I attended school. I have joint Irish and English heritage with parental roots to Limerick, Dublin and Coventry.

Currently I am working on a personal collection titled ‘Wing’ which depicts childhood, farm life and humor against a backdrop of rural tragedy.
