Iris

i never liked eyes -

too alive

with hidden meaning

i couldn't fathom

and yet - you

your eyes blazed

and i could dare to look into them

as i spoke

and you listened -

your eyes, i could have sworn, told me everything.

What the Poet Says

My inspiration behind this poem was, while it is socially acceptable to look a person in the eyes when you are speaking to them, I have always been wary of doing so for the reason that they contain too much unreadable meaning in them.
